If you've ever asked yourself something along the lines of, "If I have dry skin in some places, then how come there are areas where I'm over-producing oil?," then you may have a combination skin type. Having combination skin can be a unique struggle in itself, with dry patches on some parts, and oily, breakout-prone areas in others such as your T-zone (the area from your forehead down the length of your nose). It can be challenging to determine if this is your skin type to begin with, and figuring out how best to manage it can only add to the stress and confusion. Don't let this discourage you, though - we've made this blog to address the most important skincare factors that can revolutionize your current regimen. Keep reading for more on managing combo skin!
Combination Skin Regimen
Our Combination Skin Regimen consists of a few key steps:
1. Always cleanse skin in the AM. Using a gentle cleanser in the morning can help get rid of any buildup that has occurred overnight, as well as prep the skin to absorb additional products. Our signature Seed Synergy™ Foaming Cleanser is perfect for the job, as it gently cleanses without stripping the skin of its natural oils, and thus doesn't dry it out. Since it is crafted with only clean, vegan ingredients it is also safe for sensitive skin and helps in preventing allergic reactions and breakouts. Our essential oil complex is rich in antioxidants such as black cumin seed oil and aloe juice, providing nutrients for combination skin to thrive.
2. Use a lightweight moisturizer twice daily. With combination skin it's important to choose a moisturizer that won't add to your already excessive oil production, yet can also provide hydration for the dry patches of skin. Using our Seed Synergy™ Hydra-Lotion is the perfect compromise, as it delivers intense moisture from organic shea butter and organic apricot kernel oil, but is also lightweight enough that it won't weigh the skin down. Use this both morning and night after cleansing as reveal bright, refreshed skin. (You can thank us later!)
3. Apply an antioxidant rich serum to protect and enrich skin. Our Vitalisea™ Time Traveler™ Serum is made with our unique Intelli-Sea® Science of sea daffodil, red seaweed, and sea fennel. These ingredients provide much-needed nutrients to protect skin against environmental factors, as well as diffusing the appearance of dark spots and smoothing skin without the dryness or irritation of conventional retinol. Combination skin can benefit from this, since it is both hydrating for dry patches, while also providing calming properties for irritated or inflamed areas of the skin.
4. Don't neglect your under-eyes. Many people forget that the delicate skin under your eyes needs love and care just as any other area of skin does. Specifically, the under-eye area can be prone to dark circles, bags, and sagging skin - which can be especially noticeable for those with combination skin since pores more appear larger. Our Liquid Green® Revival Eye Whip delivers a major dose of moisture and nutrients to calm and smooth the under-eyes. Crafted with our Intelli-Seed® Antioxidant oil complex, poppy seed, marine lavender and buckwheat wax this fluffy whip provides moisture and nutrients both morning & night.
