Did You Know?

Your Best Beard Ever

Great beards come with great responsibility. Not only do you have to spend weeks–or in some cases months–growing it out, but you’ve also got to work to keep it hydrated, healthy and strong. The best way to do that? Keep it simple: use organic, non-toxic ingredients packed with beard-boosting nutrients. Our star Aesthetician Gena shares her tips to keep your beard looking top-notch and honestly feeling better than ever.

1.Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. When washing your face, make sure you don’t miss the skin under your beard. Dead skin can accumulate fast, creating a breeding ground for bacteria, dirt and sometimes hair–all of which can get trapped in pores and cause breakouts. Try one of our nutrient-packed organic cleansers that best fits your unique skin type.

2.After washing, massage the skin under your beard with our Hair and Scalp Treatment Remedy oil. Its anti-bacterial benefits are gentle on the skin and stimulate microcirculation. The oil keeps skin healthy at the root or follicle as well as keeping the beard hair hydrated.

3.Apply our minty–and refreshingly tingly–Harmonic conditioner at the ends of your beard to seal in moisture and help with dry, split ends and fly always.

4.Finish up your beard grooming with our Styling Pomade to sculpt your beard or mustache.

Q: How was your childhood different from others?
A: How wasn’t it? My friends thought my dad looked like John Lennon. He was flying all over the world, cooking clove shampoo in our sink, inviting Tibetan monks and Native elders over, and telling us to eat organic instead of OREOS. We didn’t have a picket fence, we had a mandala.

Q: How did growing with an entrepreneur change your worldview?
A: Creativity was a way of life for us—but so was hustle. I was cutting hair in high school. I was schlepping to shows and assisting him onstage. I was doing makeup backstage at hair shows and photo shoots. All while my friends were working jobs as lifeguards or retail.

Dad was never impressed by who people said they were. He was impressed by what you did. And that instilled a big work ethic in me.
