    see & seek

We are extremely excited to announce two new limited edition
aromas, see & seek, crafted to
celebrate the legacy of our founder and the OG of safe cosmetics, Horst
    Rechelbacher.

    image

Horst was the kind of person you’d
know was nearby. A rich, floral aroma would precede and shadow him, shaping the
energy he brought into any room he entered–almost like magic.  Jasmine and neroli, two of his favorite
essences, would often hang in the air wherever he was. That powerful yet
inviting air and aroma that surrounded him is exactly what we wanted to capture
    with see & seek – a mysterious,
bold yet grounding blend of his favorite essential oils.

    Packages with Heart

Horst was really a maker at heart. It started with designing
vials and tinctures, but blossomed into a love for expressive details in each
and every package. He saw a product as a true experience–even a dialogue–on all
levels. Hours were spent at the design table, often with a sketchpad or paintbrush
in hand until the aesthetic matched the intention.

The distinctive see & seek packaging represents this
side of Horst – a man with depth, curiosity and endless energy to create a
genuine, fulfilling experience through every single thing he touched. That’s
why the packages were designed to physically unzip, inviting you to enter a
world created for Horst. Inside the packages you’ll unveil your see or seek
glass bottle surrounded by a design that is all Horst: his favorite colors
purple and orange, the blooming lotus flower and two of his timeless quotes:

    image

In your home, in your world, in your heart; grow
    something.

    image

    Don’t hope. Don’t want. Don’t wish. Know.

The best part about the packaging is that it was made to be kept.
Hang it in your bedroom or creative space to serve as your daily inspiration
and a reminder to see and seek always.

To give these aromas an even bigger burst of love, we
invited everyone at IN to hand-fill and package these spirit essences.

“A blend of the most powerful stuff on earth. My father’s
most cherished essences, bottled with love XO.” –Nicole Rechelbacher

Five Questions for Nicole Rechelbacher, IN Co-Owner

We caught up with our fearless leader & daughter of Horst Rechelbacher, founder of Intelligent Nutrients and Aveda.

Q: How was your childhood different from others?
A: How wasn’t it? My friends thought my dad looked like John Lennon. He was flying all over the world, cooking clove shampoo in our sink, inviting Tibetan monks and Native elders over, and telling us to eat organic instead of OREOS. We didn’t have a picket fence, we had a mandala.

Q: How did growing with an entrepreneur change your worldview?
A: Creativity was a way of life for us—but so was hustle. I was cutting hair in high school. I was schlepping to shows and assisting him onstage. I was doing makeup backstage at hair shows and photo shoots. All while my friends were working jobs as lifeguards or retail.

Dad was never impressed by who people said they were. He was impressed by what you did. And that instilled a big work ethic in me.
