My biggest overall advice

Last belly laugh

After a long day of shooting the 48 hour film I was in, I was cracking up at a pose a flexible 101 Dalmatian toy from my childhood could make. Yeah, I don’t get it either.

My bed! Or if we mean an actual place, New York City.

When are you happiest?

I’m happiest when I make people laugh — which is often!

Top 3 reasons you love what you do

  1. Getting to talk to people about science! I’ve always loved science.
  2. Working for a brand that uses good ingredients for both the body and the environment.
  3. Educating people about the green industry.

Why is IN important to you:

Intelligent Nutrients is important to me because I am concerned about the future of the environment and the company treats it with care—as we all should.

What are your hopes for the beauty industry

I hope the US will get on it and create a beauty industry seal and eliminate yucky stuff in products. So many people don’t even realize what’s in the products they’re using and how harmful they can be.

Best part of being a part of IN?

Working with other fabulous people who are also passionate about sustainability and organic products.

What are your biggest hopes for IN?

Being a recognized brand that everyone knows about.

What are you most excited for in IN’s future?

Five Questions for Nicole Rechelbacher, IN Co-Owner

We caught up with our fearless leader & daughter of Horst Rechelbacher, founder of Intelligent Nutrients and Aveda.

Q: How was your childhood different from others?
A: How wasn’t it? My friends thought my dad looked like John Lennon. He was flying all over the world, cooking clove shampoo in our sink, inviting Tibetan monks and Native elders over, and telling us to eat organic instead of OREOS. We didn’t have a picket fence, we had a mandala.

Q: How did growing with an entrepreneur change your worldview?
A: Creativity was a way of life for us—but so was hustle. I was cutting hair in high school. I was schlepping to shows and assisting him onstage. I was doing makeup backstage at hair shows and photo shoots. All while my friends were working jobs as lifeguards or retail.

Dad was never impressed by who people said they were. He was impressed by what you did. And that instilled a big work ethic in me.
