Ask the Doctor: A Healthy Diet For Good Skin Care *

Q: Dr. Levitt, what can I do to improve and keep my skin healthy and avoid acne?

A:The skin is the largest organ of the body and to keep it healthy, it is important to take good overall care of ourselves. Diet and nutrition play a key important role as does proper digestion and elimination. Proper organ function also plays an integral role in optimal skin health, primarily overall liver health and kidney function since these are the main organs that eliminate toxins. Problems with skin health may reflect imbalances on these organ systems. Again, the skin's well-being is dependent on the health of the rest of our body.
